This cartridge is armed with a flat point projectile. It wouldn’t do any favors to any living thing it strikes, but its inability to initiate terminal expansion does suit it better for target shooting than it does hunting or home defense. The FP’s flat nose profile suits it perfectly for lever guns, and also cuts out a pretty clean hole when it connects with paper.
This round’s jacket is not made of normal copper. It is completely surrounded by polymer, which has several benefits:
• Zero lead fouling of the bore (not counting lead from the primers)
• Significantly less friction against the bore
• Significantly lower chance of splash-back (perfect if you’re shooting steel up close)
