Its heavy, slow-moving 180 grain bullet capably defeats a number of common barriers – clothing, particle board, and the like – and is designed to widen fast after impact. Federal recorded the JHP’s muzzle velocity with a 4” vented barrel. If your revolver’s barrel is shorter, it will clear muzzle significantly slower than 815 feet per second.
