We don’t know enough about biology to promise whether Remington’s Core-Lokt Tipped represents the next step in the evolution of the Core-Lokt. But it certainly represents a great feat of engineering, and a significant improvement over a hunting bullet that Americans have successfully used to topple game for over eight decades!

This 30-06 Springfield cartridge features Remington’s newest polymer tipped bullet. The Core-Lokt Tipped laughs at frontal air resistance thanks to its emerald-colored “Big Green” polymer tip, as well the sleek and concentric copper jacket it gracefully gives way to. The match accurate bullet still has the raised ring inside its jacket that reduces core/jacket fragmentation and promotes deeper and deadlier penetration. The Big Green tip doesn’t merely flatten the Core-Lokt Tipped’s trajectory. It also catalyzes terminal expansion beginning right at the moment of impact so the bullet can track a crippling wound channel in its wake.

This round’s 180 grain bullet is a heavyweight for the 30-06. Its muzzle velocity is a little lower at 2,745 fps as a result, but the bullet’s greater mass gives it more momentum that helps it defeat wind drift – not to mention punch a longer hole into a large game animal’s torso. Remington measures the bullet’s G1 ballistic coefficient at 0.480, which translates to at least 1,500 ft lbs energy delivery at any range within approximately 466 yards.
