This cartridge’s 32 grain projectile is a jacketed hollow point. It’s designed to retain more weight than an LHP or CPHP, which in turn helps it tunnel deeper into the threat. It’s also designed for rapid expansion, which it achieves via its aggressively skived copper jacket.
The JHP is shaped to feed freely in the semi-automatic pistols it was specifically developed for, and lacks any wax coating that could have gummed things up. CCI actually recorded the lightweight bullet’s 950 fps muzzle velocity with a 4” barrel: the only reason why it is apparently low.
